the end for max factor

This morning, I got an email from drugstore.com with the subject "Stock up on Max Factor before it's gone‏." I thought that was rather strange so I opened it and found this:

Stock up before it's gone?! What are they talking about?

A visit to maxfactor.com confirmed that they are closing up shop (at least in the US) and referred users to try CoverGirl cosmetics. Although I'm not a huge Max Factor junkie, they are an American company and have been in business for a long time. And I used to be a HUGE fan of the 2000 Calorie waterproof mascara. It was my go-to mascara in high school, along with the pan-stick makeup.

Sad, Max Factor. I'll miss you! To stock up, click here or visit your local drugstore. I might do some shopping just for nostalgia...

I got the same email today and thought it was soo wierd! I didn't bother opening it before I deleted it though. So do you think Covergirl bought them or something?

Mrs. MFC, I have no idea! I can only imagine they're liquidating and selling off the brand to another company, simliar to what the Bombay Company did, because the name is worth something overseas. Maybe CoverGirl is paying them to recommend them? Who knows how that stuff works!
